Barbados Delegation Displays Ignorance of Bible at United Nations

Barbados Delegation Displays Ignorance of Bible at United Nations

On Friday 27 September, the PM of Israel Mr. Benjamin Netanyahu was on hand at the United Nations to explain his justification for his country’s attack on the terrorist group Hezbollah in Lebanon and his continued military action against Hamas in the Gaza strip.

Despite the fact that many Barbadians are unaware of it, the Barbados Government has an agreement with Facebook, to censor any speech dealing with the issues listed in the Special Ads Category in the image below which is an excerpt from Facebook’s advertising page. Please see a very revealing article on this matter here

Netanyahu was there in response to yet another negative UN resolution on Israel. This particular resolution calls for a cease fire in Lebanon where the Israeli military is on the offensive against Hezbollah and where a ground offensive to root out the terrorist group is imminent as we write.

The records will show that Hezbollah, which has taken over southern Lebanon, has been launching rockets and drones into northern Israel for the best part of twenty years.

On the 8th of October 2023, one day after Hamas invaded Israel and carried out what many have described as the worst blood-letting of Jews since the holocaust, Hezbollah started firing an increasing number of rockets in northern Israel causing the Israeli authorities to evacuate over 60,000 of its citizens who live there to hotels in the centre and south of the country.  This is what he had to say:

The leader of Barbados took the opportunity of the resolution to double-down on her government’s commitment to a Palestinian state, made in April this year. This she did while speaking on the UN resolution condemning the state of Israel and calling for a cease fire.

She had nothing to say about the recent atrocities experienced by Israel even though, as we have pointed out elsewhere, Israel has been a longstanding friend of Barbados.

Her mentioning of the apartheid in South Africa in the same breath as Israel tells us that she has drunk freely of the available Kool-Aid being passed around in diplomatic circles and by the lunatic, antisemitic media.   No fake news there to see apparently; only on Barbados’ social media.

In her zeal to rebut Mr. Netanyahu and the Israeli delegation, the PM had this to say:

If you are thinking clearly about what the PM said you will know she is referring to Israel and means this:

Israel should not seek “revenge” on those who slaughtered 1200 Israelis on October 07, 2023; neither should it seek “revenge” on Hezbollah the terrorist group whose rocket barrages since October 08,  2023 have caused the Israeli government to evacuate about 60,000 of its citizens from the north of the country. In effect, this is what she is saying: you Jews should just lay down and be slaughtered!

In support of her position, the Barbados leader cites the book of Romans, the sixth book of the New Testament, where God is reported as saying, “Vengeance is mine, I will repay”.

Of course, a thinking person understands that the statement in Romans is not referring to a time of war; the statement is being taken out of context. Only the fawning, feeble-minded and voluntary ignorant will fall for that deception.

It is quite obvious that this leader and a lot of the weaklings who run Europe do not understand that peace is not necessarily the absence of war.  They have all forgotten the process of World War I and World War II. All they remember is the end product.

For some strange reason, the Barbados PM seems to like the NT (New Testament) but is either afraid of – or is ignorant of- the nature and relevance of the Old Testament.  She has in fact stated her preference for the New Testament on more than one occasion.   As Christians, we understand that the God of the Old Testament (Jehovah is his name) is the same God of the New Testament, notwithstanding anybody’s preference or perception.

What we find distasteful – but very amusing at the same time-is that the PM is implying that the Old Testament is no longer relevant.  More specifically, she is implying that the OT is teaching personal or private vengeance but the New Testament is teaching something “different”.  Nothing could be further from the truth, as we shall show momentarily.

Despite her preference for the New Testament, she has misquoted it on at least one other occasion when she stated that “we walk by sight, not by faith”.  That qualifies as “fake news”. Those of us familiar with the Bible know that it states quite the opposite, which makes a huge difference:

For we walk by faith, not by sight. 2 Corinthians 5:7  Berean Standard Bible

Anybody who has done any serious reading of the Bible knows that statements made in the Old Testament are often cited in the New Testament; for example, the commandments.  This is done in all serious writing as far as we know.

This particular statement about not taking (personal) vengeance is found in Romans 12:19. It is also found in Hebrews 10:30. Hebrews is also a New Testament book.  In both instances, the writers refer to the Old Testament book of Deuteronomy as the original source of the statement. Here is what Deuteronomy 32:35 says:

I will take revenge; I will pay them back. In due time their feet will slip. Their day of disaster will arrive, and their destiny will overtake them.’  Deuteronomy 32:35 New Living Translation

It is truly astonishing how people who do not read or have never read the Bible are experts on it. Not that this is anything surprising in Barbados; we see this voluntary ignorance in schools at all levels and hear it on call-in programmes almost every day. People do not want to be bothered to find out the truth; going with the flow is the new and dangerous normal.

Let it be known, therefore, that the Prime Minister has made a compound error.  She is doubling down on it and now finds herself opposing God regardless to whether she understands it or not.  If you are reading this and have access to the PM, please share this post with her.  Barbados is a predominantly Christian nation and we do not know who gave this government the right to make this decision against Israel for us.  Our opinion was not sought.

But she is right; God has appointed a day when he will take vengeance; vengeance first of all on those who continuously oppose him and His son Jesus Christ, Yeshua Hamashiach:

He will punish those who do not know God and do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus.  2 Thessalonians 1:8 NIV [New Testament]

However, a special day of vengeance is reserved for those who oppose him by rejecting his decision to give the land of Israel to Abraham’s descendants as he promised on oath (even though many Israelis themselves may not know this!). Here is the Sovereign God speaking again:

I will gather all nations and bring them down to the Valley of Jehoshaphat. There I will put them on trial for what they did to my inheritance, my people Israel, because they scattered my people among the nations and divided up my land. Joel 3:2 New International Version [Old Testament]. This prophecy is yet to be fulfilled.

In a previous article which can be found here, we explained why Christians cannot recognize a Palestine state or a two-state solution. The irony of it is that the Palestinians themselves do not want a two-state solution: they want a one-state solution where Israel does not exist!

Palestinian leaders have said or implied this repeatedly but the godless people who run western countries are not listening or are pretending not to hear; they clearly do not understand the people of the Middle East and much less the prophetic path declared for the Middle East by the Sovereign God, Jehovah.

We invite the PM of our country to repent of her thinly veiled anti-God, anti-Israel stance before it is too late.  She is on the wrong side of history, the wrong side of Bible prophecy and worst of all, the wrong side of the Sovereign God’s will!  We strongly suggest she reads the entire chapter 2 of Romans (her favourite book) and meditate on it; especially verses 1 – 11.

Therefore, we once again distance ourselves from the government’s position and restate our support for Israel as millions of Christians across the world do. At the same time, we wish to remind Barbadians – Christian or non-Christian – that their choice of whether to support or not support Israel comes with consequences. Here is God speaking to Abraham.

I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you.” Genesis 12:3 NIV [Old Testament]

Let the record show that this is the second time we have issued this warning to our fellow countrymen and women.
