On Sunday 10 August 2025, the United Nations called an emergency assembly, to discuss the decision of the Israeli Government to take full control of Gaza, a tiny strip of land in Israel, occupied by the Palestinians, and ruled by the violent jihadist group, Hamas, which most western nations, have officially labelled a terrorist organization.
One after one, one nation after nation another, sat and condemned the action of the Netanyahu government to take back what is really its own land, from an internationally recognized terrorist group, which has openly declared its intent, to wipe the nation of Israel off the map. One voice of dissent, as usual, was the United States, Israel’s most faithful ally in the west. Here is what Guyana’s UN representative said in that address.
This vilification of Israel on the basis of untruths, follows another by the Barbados Prime Minister back in September 2024. We wrote extensively about that and the link to that article can be found here.
The purpose of this article is not to rebut point-by-point the statements made by the Guyana representative. We will do that in an upcoming publication. Nor are we by any means indicating that all the acts committed by Israel are above reproach; on the contrary. Rather, our purpose here is to issue a warning to the good people of Guyana and other Caribbean territories over the matter of condemning as against unbiasedly criticizing Israel.
We are well aware that the decisions taken by our governments, are all too often, contrary to what the majority of the citizens of the country desire or believe.
While many argue that the current Israeli state is not the Israel of the Bible (a statement that is nonsensical even on the surface) Christians do not have the luxury of entertaining such beliefs.
The matter of Israel is actually an acid test for all nations of the earth including Caribbean peoples who claim to be Christian. Without going into too many details here, suffice it to say that the position we take on Israel is not without divine consequences. Why do we say this?
In Genesis 12:3, God tells Abraham, the father of the nation of Israel:
I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you.”
Those who care to study the history of Israel can trace the repeated fulfilment of this prophetic statement over thousands of years.

In joining with the UN in condemning Israel on the basis of propaganda – which can be easily exposed as such- both Barbados and Guyana are exposing the inhabitants of our countries to the consequences of Genesis 12:3.
If, instead of seeing things through the very limited eyes of geo-politics, we see events through the eyes of the Sovereign Ruler of the Universe, we would save ourselves much trouble and our mouths would not spell our defeat.
If Venezuela were to put into effect its claim to Guyanese territory many would be shocked and annoyed. But given what we have just said, some might be enlightened enough to connect the dots.
We should let God be the judge of Israel since He says they are his people. Nowhere in the Scripture do I see where he has abandoned them. In fact, God has sworn that he will not.
This is what the Lord says, he who appoints the sun to shine by day, who decrees the moon and stars to shine by night, who stirs up the sea so that its waves roar—the Lord Almighty is his name: “Only if these decrees vanish from my sight,” declares the Lord, “will Israel ever cease being a nation before me.” Jeremiah 31: 35 -36
We encourage every true Bible believing individual to study the Word of God on the matter of Israel for themselves and not to depend on their pastor or priest because unfortunately, too many with that designation are woefully ignorant of or disregarding of Scripture. Do not let us follow a multitude to do evil.
