Since Israel became a nation in 1948, the UN has passed more than 131 resolutions vilifying and condemning it. There is no other single issue under the sun over which the UN has passed so many resolutions.
The UN resolutions on Israel have to do mostly with its so-called occupation of Palestinian territory, humanitarian shenanigans against Palestinians, so-called war crimes and of late, genocide.
To the casual observer, this quantum of UN resolutions can only mean that Israel must be guilty of what it has been accused of, right?
But imagine a sum of money goes missing in your workplace and because you are of the finance officers, you are accused of stealing it. Two of your colleagues testify that it was you when the truth is that you did not commit the alleged offense. How would you feel? Is truth established by the sheer number of witnesses or is it established by the number of truthful witnesses? There is a big difference between the two.
Despite the fact that we live in a world where education and information are available at the click of a button – and mostly free of cost- a new kind of illiteracy has arisen. It is clearly not an illiteracy born out of information deprivation; perhaps information overload could take some of the blame. Neither is it at all accidental.
In the view of this writer, this illiteracy is self-imposed and voluntary and has been brought about by an age where it is NOT truth, but only impressions, likes and political correctness that matter.
Impressions and likes are the heart and soul of social media and we have become sucked into its bowels. It is matters of the heart and soul, matters of the spirit, that drive the masses, not logic primarily. Bill Gates, Mark Zuckerberg, the silicon tech giants and real savvy retail marketers have come to learn this truth!
Incidentally, our Caribbean website statistics show that only about 18% (less than a quarter) of those who “like a link” (a Facebook stats engine term) ever bother to visit a site and read a promoted article.
This voluntary illiterati, by virtue of its overwhelming presence in social media, is able to dangerously sway all but the most resolute of truth-seekers. Moreover, this illiterati ‘movement’ is thriving because we now live and have our being in an age which I call, “the age of solidarity by similarity”. Here is what this insane ideological stronghold means:
If I think you and I have something in common I will agree with whatever you say or do, whether you are right or wrong.
This is what drives the Muslim/ Islamic world: because I am a Muslim and you are a Muslim I will agree with you whatever you say and even fight for you. So, apart from the mercenary motive (pay-per-protest), this explains why thousands of non-Muslims in western democracies, still continue to chant “from the river to the sea Palestine will be free” without knowing, according to one poll, which river or which sea is the subject of the chant.
Most of them are students in elite educational institutions where the search for truth should be the overarching primary objective and sought after goal of learning. Of course, if you are so ill-informed, gullible, spoilt and amoral to believe your professors that there is no such thing as “absolute truth” then anything and everything IS truth.
It follows that there can be no moral standards because moral standards presuppose a set of “moral truths”. Therefore, destroying university property and assaulting law enforcement officers, are easily seen as morally acceptable.
Once we understand this new relativistic, voluntary illiterati we no longer have to ask why they are not seeking the easily accessed truth about “Palestine” and the so-called “genocide of innocent Palestinians” because the answer is self-evident:
Since there is no absolute truth, only relative truth, they see themselves as being in the same relative position as the Palestinians in that they are being “occupied” by “the system” that seeks to control them and erase their identity.
Hence, the utter mind-boggling stupidity of the LGBTQ+ displaying solidarity with the murderous Islamic Hamas terrorists who, because Islamic Sharia Law abhors such people, would instantly slaughter the gays and lesbians that make up a significant number of those solidarity-by-similarity protestors.
While there is more than a germ of truth to this notion of “system control”, it is still true that “too far east (no pun intended) is west” and that you should not “throw out the baby with the bathwater” or in the case of Hamas, “with the oven!”
Then there are straight-forward and “reverse racists”, who ironically are “colour-blind” because they see the world only in terms of black and white, literally. Particularly “blacks”, many of whom, despite their education and envied social mobility, want us to believe they are still victims of white racism. The recent exposure of Black Lives matter” as a fraud is not surprising.
Next are those who cry “genocide” without once getting off their backsides to check what the word means as a legal concept, while at the same time citing international law, a sovereignty-erasing concept fabricated by the UN, the ICJ and ICC.
Had they read the UN’s official definition of genocide, they would realize that “intent” is a key defining legal pre-condition. Then, had they gone one step further and read the Hamas charter and Hamas’ rhetoric they would have protested against Hamas rather than against Israel because the Hamas charter EXPLICITY calls for the termination of the Jewish state/Zionists and all Jews living in Israel or elsewhere.
Here in the English speaking Caribbean, we constantly boast about having one of the greatest per capita levels of literacy. However, regrettably, this new self-imposed illiteracy, like covid-19, has made its way into the psyches of our Caribbean people directly through social media as well as through the medium of Caribbean leaders who regularly participate in the sepsis that is the United Nations system.
Regrettably, the Christian church in the Caribbean has become so obsessed with activities within its four walls and with burying its head in the sand, that much of it too has become infected with the anti-Israel propaganda, rather than what the Scripture says.
You know, it is absolutely ironic that Islamists, Palestinians Muslims and Hamas, whatever, can quote their ‘holy scripture’ (the Quran) to support their anti-Israel position and many professing Christians cannot cite one single Bible verse in support of Israel!
Very soon, possibly September 2025, the “United Nuisance” will call for a vote to divide up Jerusalem in pursuit of a so-called Two State Solution which the Christian scriptures have prophesied about.
I will gather all nations and bring them down to the Valley of Jehoshaphat. There I will put them on trial for what they did to my inheritance, my people Israel, because they scattered my people among the nations and divided up my land. Joel 3:2
That is the Two State Solution the prophet Joel is talking about. This is yet to come. But in the meantime, every time Caribbean leaders side with the so-called Palestinian cause, they heap on themselves the curse, the jinx, the misfortune of Genesis 12:3
“I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you.” Genesis 12:3
This verse suggests that there is no middle ground with respect to Israel, so hiding in the ranks of the “Abstained” will not help.
Finally, this is not a prophecy per se, but I would not be surprised at all, if those governments, Caribbean or otherwise, who continue to side against Israel, suddenly find themselves out of leadership even before the next “national silly season” is proclaimed.
